According to the dictionary, a hierophant is someone, likely a priest, who interprets sacred mysteries or esoteric principles.
Today’s meditation reminds us to use our minds! We are fortunate to have teachers, in all forms, but it is to our detriment when we take in teachings blindly, accepting the interpretations of others without consideration of our own sensibilities.
When you seek, how far do you go?
Question everything. Especially on these paths of awakening, there is more to learning than being taught – your experience, your own experimentation – your own process of thought and questioning will lead you to deeper understanding.
Be weary of anyone who says their way is the only way. Could that be possible? How did they figure it out – the ONE way? Where did they get this idea? How did they come to this conclusion? Have they, themselves, experienced ALL things to come to such a conclusion? In your life experience, have you noticed that there are many ways to do everything? Why do you think that is…
What’s your way?
Seek to learn but experience to understand. I once read that a good teacher will show you where to look, but not what to see. This is not to deceive you, although the hierophant has implications of this, but it is more so to inspire your own revelations – use of your own mind…coming into your own way and understanding.
Are you in your authority? What or who is governing your life? For many of us it is fear. The decisions we make, or not, are often fueled by fear, doubt and worry. Well, fortunately we have the Emperor to remind us of the implications our mindset today! The Empress helped us plant seeds, and the Emperor helps us reign in what we are creating before taking further action.
In today’s meditation I considered my self-imposed limitations and any perceived obstacles. We can become so rigid in our ways or frozen in our fears, but with the Emperor I was reminded that by accessing his counterpart, the Empress, we can nurture ourselves with some love and compassion in order to really step out of fear and into authority.
In your own life, how are you leading the way…your way?
Whatever we give our attention to, what we hold in consciousness, we nurture. This is the energy of the Empress. She is the embodiment of love; she reminds us of the abundance in all things and how we are the source of whatever it is we grow.
Today this meditation had me in deep consideration of what I am focused on, as well as what I have been pouring energy into. What am I passionate about and do I give my passions enough attention? Am I nurturing what matters to me?
One of the beautiful things about this process is that whichever car we meditate on, life will give us clear representations or examples of the specific energies. With this in mind, it was no surprise that one of my clients showed up pregnant, a beautiful reminder of the mothering nature and fertility of the Empress. There were also many messages that came through during the session about motherhood – what it means and how the archetype has been based on societal suggestions and perceptions. Outside of the collective agreement, what does this mean to you? What are you creating – what are you nurturing? The direction of your mind and feeling are key!

I woke up today with the fool still on my mind. I decided to open the day with this energy of new beginnings, as each day is, and open my arms to the arrival of the magician.
As I mentioned in the podcast this morning, the magician shows us the tools we have to craft our own magic: the cup (emotion), the sword (thought), the wand (will) and the disc (manifest). Where does this all actually exist? The mind.
Simply stated, today’s meditation was about the power of the mind – how we use it, direct it and change it, becoming our own energetic alchemists. Interestingly, until today I didn’t realize how much the magician has been a major player in my own practice. Being mindful of our thoughts, perceptions, messages of emotion and overall choice in action/creation is something that I speak about all the time. These are the main pillars, really, of self-observation. Well, at least where we begin.
The magician reminded me that the fool is well prepared. We can be open to possibility and the unknown, and as we experience the unfolding of what we encounter, we have tools to support creation and recreation – we have the power of transformation and manifesting, consciously.
Before my journey with the magician was over, my friend invited me to see an independent film about intuition (a beautiful set up for tomorrow’s archetype: The High Priestess). The movie was called PGS and featured interviews from intuitives, scientists and doctors, all explaining what intuition is and its functionality. It was interesting, but the highlight was that of all of the seats in the entire theater, one of my psychic development teachers sat right next to me. And we even ran into the teacher that my friend studied with was in the lobby. Coincidence? Nah – beautiful, intuitive alignments.
It was nice to be in a room, full of magicians that are aware of the beauty and magic and mystery of being. I’m looking forward to diving deeper with the High Priestess tomorrow.

Yesterday was April Fool’s Day and I happened to be shuffling my deck of tarot cards. I wasn’t doing a reading; I was just feeling the deck and thinking about…who knows what. Then I started looking through the images of the cards, again, without any real intention, I was just kind of meditating. When I got to the fool card, I smirked at the coincidence of it being his day.
I went back into my meditative trance, becoming more lost in the shuffling (perhaps I was bored), and then I decided that I was going to explore the fool’s journey, consciously. There is so much change happening in my life right now anyway, and I thought it would be an interesting experiment to support my physical changes with some self-exploration and energetic alchemy.
The Major Arcana of the Tarot are considered the trump cards, highlighting the journey of existence – the dance of spirituality, coming into this life to experience individuality, only to deconstruct the layers of illusion (if you choose to do so) and begin the process of awakening. It would take a fool to embark on such a mission, no? Well, this archetype speaks to where we begin – innocence and so much more.
Today I asked the fool to be my companion. My intention was to experience the day in wonderment, to free myself from fear of the unknown and to release the need to control outcome. I was determined to be mindful of my experiences, period. With that, my day began with a sense of freedom. I was ready to take the leap into this new beginning – this new day and adventure, knowing that I had all that I needed to support me.
Well, my day was scheduled around picking up a friend who was having surgery, so it seemed the highlight would be making sure she got home okay. I was thankful that she trusted me with the task, and in that, I questioned the fool in all of us.
Before I had to pick her up, I was holding the energy of openness and joy, which felt great! Again, that energy of freedom was echoing through my field, and that alone made the day feel light and airy. I held the space of love and new beginnings for my friend too, because surgery is indeed life changing!
On my way to there, I had to make a quick stop that felt life changing for me (perhaps a bit dramatic, but you get the picture). I decided to allow myself to do something new, far from my typical way of being. It was an act of trust. I had to trust that it would be fine, even though my ego tried to flood me with fear-based thoughts. I grabbed the fool by the hand and stretched way beyond my comfort zone. And guess what – everything was fine. Actually, it was more than fine; it was growth. I allowed myself to step out of an old pattern that was basically bullshit (I say that lovingly, of course), and gave myself an opportunity to have a new experience, which ultimately led to a new perspective…and release of some control. High-five to the fool!
While I was waiting for my friend to get out of surgery, time seemed to be crawling. Thankfully I was exercising the energy of the fool, remembering that I had all that I needed in my knapsack. I reached in for patience. And as I began to settle back into my meditation of the fool card, the doctor came into the waiting area, “You’re friend is doing great! Goodnight, everyone!”
If you’re wondering why time was such a focal point, it’s because what I thought was going to be a thirty-minute waiting period, turned into almost three hours. How foolish of me. The doctor was going home and I realized that I needed some other tools, quickly. I literally asked myself how the fool would take this on, and I shook my head as I realized this was just an experience – it was an adventure in its own right. The good news was that my friend was okay, and the great news was that we would be leaving soon.
With the fool on my mind, I returned to grace. I laughed with my friend who was high on medication and thought back to how much fun we used to have in our twenties. Talk about foolish…we had FUN! We were bridesmaids for each other. We worked together. We wiped each other’s tears. She did my hair and I did her make-up. We always laughed. And then my mind came back to the present, acknowledging that although she and I have adventured so much apart, friendship gave us the opportunity to be in the car together on this day. I was thankful.
When the fool and I finally got home and in bed, I was reminded of each day being a journey – each experience being rich with newness, and that my perspective would always determine how wise the fool could be…or not.
This is a 22 day journey of transformation, using the Major Arcana as a guide. You're welcome to join me on Reiki Radio, each morning, to explore the archetypes and examine how they each show up in your own life. All my love,
As you journey through each day, you may encounter a range of OUTSIDE experiences that lift your spirits or rattle you to the core. But the key is that these experiences are outside of you and your perspective (and response) will shape the unfolding.
Notice how you are showing up and your level of participation.
You are powerful and your power can be used to build or destroy, but the key is the energy you generate in use of your power. I’m sure you already know which energy you’re tapped into when your intent is to impose your strength onto others, but what happens when you tap into the most powerful source of all…
Instead of adding fuel to any fires, what can you do to support change? It starts with your feeling and approach. Check your energy. Check in with you! Move ahead in a frequency that will be most beneficial…
Day to day. Moment to moment. Inhale to exhale.
Another key factor is your point of focus. What you zoom in on, usually with mental blinders, is not only shaping your internal feeling but the OUTSIDE experience, and potentially the rest of your day.
What you can acknowledge to stay lifted?
It’s the little things. When you acknowledge the gifts surrounding you, and the gift of life itself, it helps in maintaining a level of appreciation that can support you in showing up in outside experiences with more compassion, understanding and gratitude.
You are shaping your moments; make the most of them. You are shaping this life experience; make the most of it. You are shaping it all through the energy you generate; choose wisely.
Your energy is powerful and LOVE is your TRUE power.
When I was in elementary school, my babysitter was Chinese and her little sister was one of my best friends. Their family included me in everything, even Chinese New Year! It was always exciting because the adults gave my friend, Mun, and I red envelopes filled with money for a prosperous New Year. In their culture, the color red was symbolic of energy and good luck, so the envelope itself held more significance than the money inside.
The energy of all things…
As I reflected back on this today, it reminded me of the importance of the energy we infuse into thought and action. Today, we are witnessing a lot of upset around events within the collective. There are hateful words being thrown around, strong energies of disdain, all in the name of what is “right” and/or “good”. It reminds me of a time when I went to a gay pride parade and there was a man screaming expletives and calling people (gay people) horrible names, all while holding a bible and saying it was in the name of God. Not one loving word, no ounce of energy that felt loving, yet he believed it was nothing less than righteous.
Your energy supersedes intention…
Are your words and actions aligned with what you intend to convey? What energy do you hold…what does it feel like in your body when you consider various aspects of life? If it doesn’t feel like love beneath the surface, what are you actually projecting out?
What matters to you?
The confusion lies in upset. Yes, there are things that enrage us, but WHY are these things so upsetting? The anger surfaces because underneath it all, you care about something. But what happens when you allow anger to become the voice of your heart?
Mind over emotion.
Think about it this way…when someone yells at you, what is your immediate response? Defensiveness, most likely, and then you may react in the same way, causing an eruption of miscommunication because in the discord, not much is actually heard or understood. The actual points become lost in translation, and the exchange of words move far beyond what mattered to you (or them) in the first place.
In love, how can you express the TRUTH of your heart?
In the example I used above, the man at the parade, what if he expressed his views in love? What if he were able to convey the truth of his heart, which was probably that he was afraid of what he did not understand? What if he truly believed that he was there to help “save” people from…whatever he believed, and he was able to speak from a place of genuine concern? He may have opened up a peaceful dialog. He may have come to understand different points of view…he may have left more informed, with more love and compassion in his heart. He may have left with newfound brothers and sisters. Would they have agreed? Not necessarily, but change would have begun in the right place…in the mind.
Be vulnerable enough to stand in and BE your light…
As I mentioned, we are entering the Year of the Fire Rooster. This sign is known for its drive and determination. And considering all that is going on in the world, many are determined to see and support change. While this can be a beautiful thing, the key will be to act from a space of love, remembering the energy beneath your motivations.
Some believe it is necessary to fight fire with fire, but let’s think about that scenario…everything would be destroyed. Alternatively, outside of emotional reaction, one may consider use of water. Just saying…
This is such an important time, for all of us, to wake up and begin to listen and understand ourselves. Once we have clarity of heart, bringing that clarity into alignment with our minds, we may find the peace we all seek (it will take some time). And again, we may not always agree, but the only way we will come to evolve through understanding is through loving energy and effective communication.
On that note…
May we all have a prosperous new year, filled with MORE love and light…and in the words of Dr Martin Luther King Jr: Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Journey in LOVE!
Do you ever wake up in that in-between sleep state with random thoughts swirling through your mind? This happens to me often, and it’s usually something that I THINK I will remember, but by the time I’m fully conscious, I have no idea what the thoughts were…I only know that it was something “good” that I wish I could remember. I hate when that happens.
Well, it happened this morning, but fortunately something moved me to actually write it down. It was more like an illegible scribble, but I got the gist and it was a message about this energy that we are entering in 2017.
Last year, especially towards the end, there was a lot of focus on relationships, family and career/life-path. It seemed as though all of our “issues” came to surface and had to be dealt with, one way or the other. And all of these concerns were challenging our feelings of stability, belonging and security. It was lower chakra energies taking center stage.
Now of course, it wasn’t all necessarily “issues”. In some cases we were simply moving into the next level or phase of relationship and/or career with absolute joy and excitement. But either way, there was some serious lower chakra work being done in 2016. The key was our acknowledgment and having to make clear decisions, either willingly or seemingly by force. Things changed in major ways.
In the relationship arena, there were many buttons being pushed. The triggers that had been stuck on repeat were exploding into battle. There was no room left for what you could no longer tolerate. It was either find resolution, fight after fight, or walk away. And this wasn’t just in the romantic sense; there were friendships, family connections and business relationships that were also sparked into the flames of build or destroy (sometimes destroy to rebuild). There was an intolerable discomfort in putting up with bullshit! The voice of the lower chakras came roaring to the forefront in defense of what truly matters to you.
Then there was the focus of career/life-path. Many of us were itching for change. Something had to be done differently, or we were absolutely certain that it was time to move on…but the challenge was in deciding what to move towards and how. Again, any old patterns and routines that were becoming stale had finally met our wits end. Enough was enough, which either encouraged taking bold new steps, or cringing in a ball of aggravation while waiting for the answers to magically appear at our feet.
All of the highs and lows of the year were brining your attention to you. It was all to highlight what you want to experience, freeing yourself from old ways of being to embrace what you KNOW you deserve: freedom, love and joy. The entire year, that Universal Nine Year, was literally breaking up the old to help you CLEAR and prepare for what you are going to allow yourself to experience in the next nine-year cycle. And here we are…
So back to the chatter that was happening in my in-between sleep state…
It was as if I heard someone asking me, “Does he love me?” and my response was, “Who cares?” Then I heard another question from the mystery voice, “Do they like me?” and again, my response was “Who cares?”
I know that sounds kind of cold, and there was a bit of annoyance in my response, but it was simply because the thoughts beneath my answers were: DO YOU LOVE YOU? DO YOU LIKE YOU? Because at the end of the day, that’s really what matters, and that’s exactly why last year seemed challenging in many ways. It was about self-love, self-recognition, self-acknowledgment…it was about you owning what you actually want and deserve.
Okay, now this brings us into the New Year: the heart chakra. Do you love AND like yourself? Are you allowing yourself to BE authentically you, based on your true needs and desires? In short, are you aligned with your heart and honoring yourself as one who is love and deserving?
This is just the beginning of our new cycle of growth, and you have probably already decided what you will no longer tolerate in the New Year, as well as what you are going to do more of…or in new ways! Whatever you have decided, I bet it will be heart-focused, because you have already experienced so much clearing that the heart has become louder. This year, she will not be ignored.
Align. Align. Align.
In this Universal Year One, we are planting new seeds of experience that will flourish throughout this new nine-year cycle. What better way to start than in alignment with yourself – your TRUE self?
If you are familiar with me, you know that I like to crack the meanings behind the spirituality jargon, so when we hear align with yourself, what does this mean to you? And more importantly, how do you accomplish this alignment?
Well, in my experience, the best way to align is to first come into connection. How will you know what you want, or even what may be in the way of what you want, unless you look at you?
