It just occurred to me that I need to find peace with my eyes open. I tend to go into meditation, or hop on my Reiki table when I am feeling surges of emotions or other energies that are working their way up to the surface for acknowledgement.
I listen and I go within. But with the holiday here, which includes festivities and more possible triggers of emotion, I realized that I better figure out a way to find my peace with my eyes open.
The holiday’s, in general, are interesting; partially because I live 3,000 miles away from my family, but also because I am single. This seems to worry my friends, which is sweet and comical, but it also puts pressure on me to “be okay”. So while I am very fortunate to have wonderful friends who are like family, I still find myself in a strange space, wanting to be completely alone and away from the celebration.
Well, this year I decided that I am going to do it differently. I have accepted invitations to dinners and other gatherings, but even the thought of this entices my emotion to boil over. So, what to do? Again, I know I have to find a way of finding peace with my eyes open, while interacting with other people in the holiday fun.
I am sharing this because I know I can’t be the only one feeling unnerved by the idea of obligatory cheer. And yes, I’m sure there will be genuine laughter and feelings of joy, on my part, but I also know that there will be and underlying sadness, which I will have to deal with.
And that’s just it…
It’s something to deal with. My attempt to even engage is really an attempt to allow myself to feel whatever it is I may possibly feel. And to find peace, I have to let myself feel whatever may come up, remembering the underlying fortune and gratitude I have for every person in my life: family, friend, client, student…and even the amazing souls who have crossed my path only once or twice.
Community. The holiday is very communal, although I have made it a tradition of solitude. And the truth is, I can only be at peace with my EYE open, allowing myself to see and acknowledge that which I hold within my field of consciousness. If the last few weeks have taught me anything, it’s that we are transforming in new ways, digging deep and really tapping into the roots of who and what we are.
So with my eyes open, I will acknowledge the beautiful souls before me, finding peace in the beauty of exchange and inclusion. With my eyes open, I will give thanks for all I am experiencing and my continued opportunities for healing and growth. And with my eyes open, I will see that it’s all a matter of perspective. Yes, I hold myself accountable to practicing what I teach.
If you are missing someone this holiday, remember they are still with you, which is why you’re even holding them in thought. Smile and give thanks for your happy memories, then allow your heart to beam. We are so blessed to have known those we love, no matter the length of time.
I wish you all a beautiful holiday! May you find joy in all you encounter. May you give and receive love, with gratitude. May you be light, acknowledging and nurturing your spirit! May you find peace, with your eyes open.
Get ready for emotions! Whether the holiday's have you feeling high or low, there will be beautiful opportunities to acknowledge your deepest feelings this week. And while this can sound intimidating, remember it's all perspective.
You can choose to see the gifts of your transformation within the rings of laughter and in the journey of each tear. You are moving into new levels of awareness and understanding. Allow.
So, what are you experiencing in this time of deep transformation?
This time of year stirs up a lot of emotion, encouraging you to release the old, in preparation for the new. But how well are you dealing with what’s coming up in your field of energy for release? In this upcoming week, there is a lot going on, energetically…and a lot may be triggered.
Remember this: you have choice, you are the manager of your energy and how you deal with it is what truly matters.
You have deep seeded emotions and ties (energetic cords) that are connected to your family, relationships and your ideas of who you are and what you should be doing. Entangled in these webs are energies of residual guilt, shame, anger, hurt and the list goes on and on, but the key is to release any fear around what you’re holding onto or how it makes you feel. In order to heal and transform your energy, in a genuine attempt to “release” whatever has you feeling “off”, you have to acknowledge what is coming up for your acknowledgement and why.
What is your heart working through or working out?
In addition to the holidays and to-do lists, what are you experiencing on an energetic level? Consider what you have been nurturing and feeding your energy into, until now. Are you still struggling with old feelings, behaviors or patterns? Take a moment and consider what you are resisting, in terms of your healing.
The winter solstice happens on December 21, 2015, which is the shortest day of the year. Traditionally, this is a time for introspection. When we move into winter, the nights are longer and symbolic of moving inward, connecting to your inner-light. What happens when you close your eyes and disconnect from the surrounding noise? You go within. You connect with what you are feeling, beyond the influence of what you perceive in the material realm. You allow yourself space to SEE in truth, and connect with what matters to you.
If it matters to you, make it matter in your life!
When we look at this date numerically, 12-21, the month and day are like a mirror image. In this, consider what you are internalizing and what you are reflecting out. How are your deepest feelings and thoughts influencing what you are creating, experiencing and attracting into your life? If what matters to you is not reflected in the life you’re living, consider how you are not being honest with YOU. This is a time to see the beautiful and amazing soul that is you!
What’s out of alignment and what have you been avoiding?
Think about what happens in nature during winter months, and how you can learn to allow change to process as beautifully as the seasons.
The trees are bare, going through a process of release, before regeneration of life. If you allow yourself to be vulnerable, baring your soul to you, it becomes easier to release attachments from your old leaves (stories and energies), as part of your natural cycle of growth and evolution.
You are encouraged to unplug from the world and connect with yourself. Look within, honor your truth, transform to heal and then set clear intention around what IS true and in alignment with your heart. What will you honor and allow yourself to experience next?
Live a life that is the reflection of your heart!
Be kind to yourself in your process of growth, and give yourself permission to heal and transform so that you can begin expressing and creating as only YOU can.
Passion. Purpose. Contribution.
If you are not showing up in ways that feel authentic to you, whom are you showing up as, and what are you truly contributing? Is it from your heart, or are you living to appease an externalized expectation? The energy beneath your actions, and the truth beneath your motivation, is more important than the action itself.
The New Year may have you going through the lists of what you didn’t complete, what you should focus on next and wondering how to get everything done. Take a breath, step out of blame and self-criticism, and acknowledge all that you DID accomplish this year! What have you learned? How have you grown? And through it all, acknowledge that you are right here, right now…and still going.
We are ending this cycle, 2015, which is a universal year eight. This year was about balance, and in order to create balance and harmony in your life, there was a process of release AND acceptance. So, yes, this year was full of major changes, but is there anything that you’re still resisting? What if you allowed yourself to let go of old beliefs and ways of being that no longer fit who you are and what you want to experience? What if you allowed yourself to accept and honor who you are and what does matter to you…
This cycle is ending and you will be supported by the full moon, which is symbolic of completion and release. The next full moon will be in the nurturing sign of Cancer on December 25th, Christmas Day. This is THE Mama Moon of moons! The sign of Cancer is ruled by the moon, inviting you to dive into your sea of emotions, with full awareness of your ability to learn and grow from what you feel and sense.
Holiday’s, in of themselves, can be a lot, but then we have emotions heightened by the FULL moon, and under the influence of the sign of Cancer. Grab a box of tissues. If you have been in avoidance or trying to evade your feelings, it’s likely that you won’t be able to escape much longer…
Christmas (and the days preceding) may be emotional this year, but "emotional" doesn’t have to be crazy!
For some reason, we do tend to equate our emotions to “mess”, but our emotions are quite beautiful when honored, understood and displayed responsibly. And of course, your emotions may also be heightened with overwhelming joy and gratitude!
Remember that your feelings reveal the stories of your experiences, and the release of emotion is part of your transformation. You are working through layers of old energies for your self-healing and growth. But keep in mind that you are not the ONLY one. We are all transforming, so be respectful of the emotions and feelings of those surrounding you, too. We all have hurt that’s coming up to come out, but we can support each other, lovingly, in the process.
This full moon, being in Cancer, is also very nurturing. So, yes...go ahead and release with love, and then welcome the gifts and blessings of new beginnings! Can you imagine how good you will feel after letting go?
Here are a few tips to help you navigate these energies:
