In preparation for the New Year, I want to share with you some ways to clear your space, welcoming new energies for the year ahead!
Today is the New Moon in Capricorn, which is the perfect energy for reorganizing and creating strategy! The new moon also provides an optimal energy for intention setting, but today I want you to also consider which energies you would like to release.
Journal: Write down which areas you feel lack of motivation, stuck or stagnant energies (including physically and emotionally). Then write down what comes up for you: why you feel stuck and/or how you landed in this space. Connect the dots, being honest with yourself about which events led up to where you are now, and how you can move forward. Consider ways to heal and move into a space of forgiveness (forgiving yourself and others). Take ownership of the role you play within your relationships and your decision making. Release anger, grudges and ego. Write down all that you are grateful for and…breathe! Finally, create a plan. Write what you will shift and change to motivate forward movement.
Sage: You can also release old, stagnant energies by smudging. This is a process/ritual of burning sage and allowing the smoke to carry lower energies from your space. If you use this technique, make sure to smudge each corner of your home with the intention of releasing lower vibrations. Don’t forget to open your windows! When you’re done, light a white candle and invite in cleansing, high vibrations to revitalize the energies of your surroundings. If you’re a Reiki Practitioner, use your scared symbols to raise vibrations, heightening the energies of your smudging process.
Reorganizing: A change in environment can help shift energies. This can be done by literally changing your physical environment, which can be as simple as rearranging furniture! Give your space a new look and create a new energetic flow. Everything has vibration, including the arrangement of physical objects, which is why Feng Shui has become so popular in the West. Whether you understand Feng Shui or not, you can change the feel of your space by moving things around and cleaning!!! It’s not just for spring; create a New Year cleaning ritual, clearing space for new energies! Reorganize and release!
Shared Space: This can be a bit more challenging! If you are in a shared space, have a conversation about reorganizing for the New Year. We must respect each other’s spaces, energetic or otherwise, so it is a great conversation to have for forward movement, on common ground! Again, everything is energetic and the vibrations of EVERYTHING affect us! Did you know that clutter has a vibration? It does and such stagnant energy can cause shifts in our moods and leave us feeling immobilized! Back to Feng Shui…create a harmonious flow and energetic balance in your environment, and you’re creating more harmony and balance in your life!
Donation: What you no longer need or want may serve someone else. If it’s just taking up space; let it go! Not only will you make room for new energies, but you will also transform stagnant energies into the harmonious flow of exchange! You can move out of waste and into a space of giving, creating the flow of gratitude!
If you have a hard time letting go, consider what you’re holding on to. Is it an emotional attachment? What is the energy behind the object? Sometimes we hold on to the past by holding on to physical reminders, but we claim to have moved on. If you really want to clear your space, release with love!
I hope this information helps you step into the New Year with room for new possibility and growth! May we all have a year far greater than we could ever imagine!
